On Friday, May 9, 2014, the FBA staff attended the Leadercast 2014 event. The event, which was held live in Atlanta, was simultaneously telecast to 746 host sites worldwide. This year FBA was proud to be the sponsor of the simulcast held at the Palm Beach Atlantic University campus in Orlando.

The Leadercast event was co-hosted by Tripp Crosby and Giuliana Rancic, and featured speakers such as Andy Stanley, Dr. Henry Cloud, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Laura Schroff, former First Lady Laura Bush, Malcolm Gladwell, Randall Wallace, Bill McDermott, Simon Sinek and others. The focus of the Leadercast organization is on “building leaders worth following” and the theme for this year’s event was “Beyond You”.

If you’re not sure what a Leadercast event is, we highly recommend you look into it. Every year it is a great way to hear from influential and highly successful individuals as they speak on a particular theme.  Each of the the FBA staff members said that they really felt touched by all the speakers. Some of the speakers brought stories from business or their personal lives, and each of them was truly amazing.

A staff favorite, which brought several tears to the crowd, was the story of Laura Schroff. She is just a typical person like all of us who had a very special “Beyond You” moment which changed the life of a homeless 11 year-old boy forever. You can learn more about her story and her new book An Invisible Thread here.

A central message that we took away is that “the value of a life is always measured by how much of it was given away.”  We will be posting more articles in the weeks to come which will expand upon the lessons learned at this event and how we, together as a company and individually as employees, will be incorporating these lessons into our daily activities, policies, and procedures here at the FBA. Stay tuned!
